WHY PARTICIPATE IN RECITAL?

• Recital is our chance to showcase each dancers’ hard work throughout the season, an opportunity to perform, and a great time to bond!

• There are so many reasons to participate including:

Boosting Confidence-

It encourages dancers to come out of their shell and overcome being shy, stage fright, and anxiety. They get a chance to show the
audience the results of their hard work and dedication. When they experience being applauded for their progress and efforts, it
boosts their confidence that sticks with them through all aspects of life, in and out of dance.

Promoting Teamwork-

Dancers learn the positive aspects of working as a team in group dances. They have to work together to create the best outcome
and final performance of the season. Being able to work in group settings is a life skill needed in dance, school, future careers,
social life, and family life. It’s never too soon to start learning the benefits of a team.

Goal Setting-

Sports like soccer and basketball have games, while dancers have performances. The amount of time it takes to prepare for these
events teaches a student how to work towards a goal. It teaches them the feeling of accomplishing goals and conquering
obstacles with a clear time frame. It helps them realize that working hard is worth it!

New Skills-

Recitals are an opportunity to build a lot of new skills, like preparation skills, time management, retention/memorization, and
more. Dance-wise, they work on rhythm, technique, stage direction, and performance. These dance skills and life skills apply to
the other as well, and the more experience, the easier it is to see how dance discipline and lessons apply everywhere.

Memories and Bonding-

Recitals provide plenty of time to nurture lifelong friendships and memories. Between pictures, classes, rehearsals, and shows,
dancers spend a lot of time with each other. They have a huge part of their lives in common, and this is a time to celebrate with
each other. Recitals become timestamps and milestones, and families take part in celebrating these accomplishments and
memories. All the while instilling a passion for dance and performing.
