dress code

We encourage our dancers to take pride in their attire and appearance.
Thank you for following these studio guidelines.

All dancers will have their hair pulled up out of their face for every class.

Ballet

  • Black Leotard, pink tights

  • Hair secured in a nice ballet bun with bangs pinned back

  • Pink ballet shoes (full-sole for beginners, split sole for intermediate/advanced)

Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Acro, Tap, Company

  • Fitted dance wear- Leotard or biketard of any color/style, dance shorts, leggings, fitted tops

  • Hair neatly tied back

  • Jazz shoes for beginners and preferred dance shoe for intermediate/advanced

  • Half-sole/Pirouettes or barefoot for Contemporary/Lyrical

  • Barefoot for Acro

  • Tap shoes for Tap

  • Instructor’s choice of shoes for company rehearsals

Hip Hop

  • Baggy clothes

  • Hair neatly tied back

  • Clean tennis shoes (shoes that are specifically for class are a great idea)

Tiny Dancers/Combo Classes (ages 2-6)

Black or pink dance dresses, biketards, or leotards, pink tights, proper foot attire

Hair neatly tied back

Full-sole ballet shoes for Tiny Dancers and ballet

Tap shoes for tap

Jazz shoes or barefoot for Jazz

Clean tennis shoes for hip hop

Barefoot for tumbling

*If your dancer is in tumbling, please wear a leotard or biketard - no skirts.

DANCE BAGS

  • Carry dancewear, shoes, deodorant, extra hair ties, bobby pins, bandaids, and a water bottle with the dancer’s name on it. Take inventory often to replenish your dance bag of these necessary items.

  • Keep cell phones in dance bags on silent unless it is being used to record in class at the teacher’s discretion.

  • AZ Dance District is NOT responsible for any lost, misplaced, or stolen items. Please leave valuables at home.

If you have any dress code questions, ask your instructor.

Please note that after a dancer has been out of dress code three times, the dancer will be asked to sit and observe class. A form will be provided to help keep track of occurrences.
